New randomised and controlled trial published in Manual Therapy in August 2016 looked at manual therapy in joint and nerve structures combined with exercises in the treatment of recurrent ankle sprains. The group that hand ‘hands on’ therapy and exercise had significantly better outcomes than those who just did the exercise.
Unfortunately my colleagues in the NHS are not encouraged to be ‘hands on’ any longer and just to become exercise coaches.
